Hello my name is Nolan Leist a Scout in Troop 694 in Anderson Township. As a part of earning my Eagle Scout rank badge I completed my Eagle Scout Project (a project designed for scouts to demonstrate and gain leadership skills and provide a positive impact on their community). My project was fundraising for and installing outdoor exercise equipment at the State & Nagel Park located just across the street from Nagel Middle School.
I chose this project because I wanted to build something in my community that I know will have a positive impact for many years to come. By installing fitness equipment in a park people will have easy access to the equipment and be able to do exercises that normally they would need to go to a gym and pay for a membership for. With this equipment walkers/joggers will be able to easily tag on a core or strength type workout along with their walks/runs due to the park's easy access to sidewalks and trails. Studies show that working out is both good for physical health as well as mental health, similarly being outside also boosts mental health. This equipment will allow community members to be able to have a productive workout while being outdoors boosting overall physical and mental health. Furthermore, with the park being located right by Nagel Middle School, student grades 7-8 will have great access to the park and the equipment allowing teens ages 13-15 to use the equipment for their own physical and mental wellbeing.
I was able to raise just over $5,000 dollars for the equipment and materials to install the equipment. This project would not have been possible without the support of the community. Huge thanks to those who donated to my project and the volunteers who helped install the equipment. I am very grateful for all the support. Thank you for allowing me to achieve my Eagle Scout rank and make a difference in the community.
